Pappu has more reason to dance!

Moviegoers are being treated to a new song in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na after Aamir Khan gave in to demands of his fans on his blog. The actor was in a dilemma over the song Jaane Tu Mera Kya Hai that is in the music album, but not in the film that’s successfully launched his nephew Imran Khan as the hottest new-Khan-on-the-Bollywood-block. It was picturised as a romantic number on Imran and Genelia D’Souza but had been edited out of the final cut to keep up with the pace of the film. But with the film breaking box office records, Aamir wanted to bring it back in it’s original format. Unsure whether it would be a wise decision, the actor shared his confusion with fans on his blog. “The response he got was overwhelming. Over 70 per cent was in favour of the new song,” said a source. And the song is now being added to the film from this Friday.

First show, paisa vasool!

In a cunning strategy that’s new to Bollywood, Shahid Kapoor has done away with a premiere show and private screenings of his new film with Vidya Balan opening tomorrow; instead, the actor is holding special shows today across a chain of multiplexes only meant for college girls. Tickets to the shows are being sold, yes — actually sold at a premium, after the girls produce their college identity cards. The fringe benefit to this is that not only do his fans get to see the film before its official release, but Shahid will visit each theatre and interact with them at the end of the shows. He’s been on a roll ever since Jab We Met crowned him the new lover boy at the box office. But Shahid is keen on winning more female hearts. “People like me in love stories. I want to do more of them and I hope they continue doing well,” said the actor who counts Tom Cruise, Leonardo Di Caprio, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan as his romantic heroes of all time. “Marketing of an image has to be backed by substance. My films have to be equally good. In the end what helps is an honest relationship with the audience,” says the savvy star quite forgetting that the success of his earlier films had much to do with co-stars like Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Rao in them. Wonder what Vidya Balan has to say about his moving in on college girls with their film today.

Tusshar Kapoor gets angry

It has been long since we bumped into Tusshar Kapoor. What he is excited about these days is his film K Kompany. “There are so many cameos in the film — there’s Karan Johar, Sanjay Dutt, my sister Ektaa, Mahesh Bhatt…” he trails off. KJo, we hear, does a Shah Rukh Khan in this one. He plays the host of some gameshow? “So? Even Amitabh was host of the same gameshow. Then why aren’t people saying that Karan is doing an Amitabh. But the truth is that Karan is just playing himself in the film, and aping neither Shah Rukh nor Amitabh,” he defends. Ok, but why the ghussa Tushki?

Neha’s looking hot

You thought Neha Dhupia looked hot on screen? Well, she looked even hotter off screen the other day. We bumped into the pretty actress at a friend’s wedding. Neha, draped in a beautiful sari, carried herself so well that we can easily say that she did more for the sari than the outfit did for her. Neha has been on a workout spree and is currently focusing on improving core strength. We don’t know what she’s been up to in her personal life but the girl was looking gorgeous! The actress is always seen in a glamourous avatar on or off screen. And because of her modelling background she has been blessed with a good sense of fashion and carries of western as well as traditional clothes with equal ease.

‘I’ve given a hit with Salman too’

Katrina Kaif says her success formula at the BO is not Akshay Kumar, but the script
So what if another candle will be added to her birthday cake today, Katrina Kaif has collected many fans, too, in the year gone by. And in fact they voted her the Sexiest Woman on the Planet in a UK poll. But Katrina knows that nothing lasts forever, not even the sexy tag that’s attached to her name. Down with a hip strained while working out in the gym, she told BT, “I don’t consider myself sexy. My friends laugh and say, ‘Sorry, but we don’t find you sexy.’” She considers herself quite the girl next door. “I’m the most simply dressed person at parties. When someone calls me glamorous, I understand, but sexy! That’s not me,” she insists. Last year, she celebrated her birthday in London with her family, but today promotions for Singh is Kinng take precedence. “My mum and sister have come here. And in the evening, my friends are throwing a party for me.” So, what is Salman Khan gifting her? “I don’t know,” she admits, dodging the age-old question about why the two do not come out in the open and talk about their relationship. She would rather talk about herself. “God has been kind, I couldn’t have asked for more,” says the actress, who has given back-toback hits with Akshay Kumar. But what about her onscreen pairing with Salman which hasn’t sizzled as much? “ Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya with Salman was a hit,” she says defensively, “and besides, I don’t think it’s only with Akshay that my films are a hit. I have done Race with Saif, Partner with Govinda, Apne with the Deols. I think more than the costar, it’s the director and the script that matter.” Katrina and Salman will be seen together again in Subhash Ghai’s Yuvraj. “This year there haven’t been good scripts offered to us, but next year, you will see more of us,” says Kats with certainty. Her record at the BO notwithstanding, is she confident of carrying off a film by herself ? “I don’t think anybody in the industry is capable of doing that. A film is declared a hit when audiences watch it again and again. And if my films are a hit, that means they have liked me and I deserve credit because I put in my 100 per cent,” says Kats. So what’s next? “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani with Ranbir Kapoor and a Yash Chopra film with John Abraham. Ranbir is in my friend circle. I know him, so it’s cool to work with him,” replies Kats.

Gayatri Mantra before each stunt!

We all know that Akshay Kumar loves doing his won stunts, even the dangerous ones. But what’s the secret behind his success in each and every one stunt? Well, the religious actor chants the Gayatri Mantra before doing any dangerous stunt and that’s what he taught the 13 hasinas who gave him company in Fear Factor — Khatron Ke Khiladi on COLORS. The actor recited the prayer to encourage the participants, increase their inner self-belief and make them fearless while performing death-defying stunts in South Africa. Confirming this, Akshay Kumar said “Whenever I do my stunts I say the Gayatri Mantra in my mind. I strongly believe that our body is animated by life energy and according to India’s science of sound healing; you can gather and direct that healing life force through the power of sacred sound. Hence to help the girls overcome their fear, I thought it’s best to start their stunts with this ultimate chant.” Interestingly, Yaana Gupta one of the participants did not know the ‘Gayatri Mantra, Akshay made her learn the chant. Thereafter, Yaana could recite the mantra with absolute ease.

When will we see Imran again?

Meanwhile Aamir Khan’s nephew Imran Khan is taking the advice of his mamujan a bit too seriously. The new chocolate hero is in no hurry and he doesn’t seem to believe in making hay while the sun shines. And that’s why though he has been flooded with offers, he still hasn’t signed any on the dotted lines. “His uncle has told him not to sign any movies. And Imran doesn’t want to do anything without consulting his uncle,” says a friend. In short, it means he won’t do more than one film in year. Do we see another Aamir Khan clone in the making?

What’s common between Arjan and Priyanka?

It seems that both the stars from Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion are often seen discussiong martial arts on the sets. Incidentally, Priyanka Chopra got herself trained in martial arts for Drona, a film which she is doing with Abhishek Bachchan. A source from the film unit says, “Priyanka was informed by someone on the set that Arjan Bajwa is a Taekwondo expert. She takes special interest in knowing various forms of martial arts. During the shot breaks, they would talk about how she did her own stunts in the film, and how Arjan practices Taekwondo on a regular basis.” Priyanka was not aware of the fact that Taekwondo is a blend of Shotokan Karate with other Chinese and Korean martial arts. But finally, she got all information from Arjan. So now we won’t be surprised if we see Arjan and Priyanka in a martial arts film!

SEN SISTERS IN TALE OF WIFE-SWAPPING!

The sisters Sen, Raima and Riya, though on the periphery of Bollywood for long, have just broken through Tollywood to work together for the first time. The film is Rituparno Ghosh’s Nauka Dubi which is based on an adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s novel by the same name. It is a lavish period film with the rather delicate subject of wife-swapping as its theme. Interestingly, the Sen girls don’t play sisters in this film but are the wives in tumultuous marriages to actors Priyanshu Chatterjee and Jishu Sengupta. Rituparno Ghosh, who earlier directed Raima with Aishwarya Bachchan in an adaptation of Tagore’s Chokher Bali, is delighted with his casting coup for Nauka Dubi. “For long I waited to find the right vehicle for Raima and Riya. This film gives them ample scope to perform as actors and also to accentuate their individual beauty that has so far not been properly put in films,” said the renowned Bengali director. Raima, who did a few side roles for Bollywood and Tollywood and then vowed to steer clear of them, said, “Ritu da has always cast me in smaller parts. Though I enjoyed doing Antar Mahal, Chokher Bali and Khela recently, I was dying to do a central role with him.” Sister Riya added, “We were sure we wanted to be cast in the right film. I remember Ritu da had once come home in Kolkata to sign Raima for a role. When he saw me he promised he would sign me one day.” Incidentally, Tagore’s Nauka Dubi has been done twice before, once in 1946 as a bi-lingual featuring Abhi Bhattacharya and Dilip Kumar and again in 1960 as Ghunghat.

Sophie braves pain to resume shooting

Actress Sophie Choudry recently met with an accident while shooting for Freeze. And the actress has not only injured her knee and fractured her toe, but has also suffered a muscle pull in the neck. The injuries have handicapped Sophie completely and the unbearable pain is giving her sleepless nights. She can neither move left, nor right while on bed because of the fracture and the muscle pull in the neck and the doctors have even made her wear a neck collar for speedy recovery. But, inspite of her injuries, we hear she has resumed her shooting and is busy shooting for Sanjay Gupta’s Alibag. Now that’s one brave girl!

Vivek goes the Himesh way

After lying low for a long while, Vivek Oberoi is back with a vengeance. And for a change, like a good boy he has decided to stay far, far away from any controversies. But surprisingly he still manages to make news. This time around, it’s for his new fixation these days and before you guys draw any conclusion, we are talking about his new penchant for caps. Like Himesh Reshammiya of old days, Vivek is spotted with a cap these days. Wonder what he’s trying to hide in his cap. A new look, we wonder?

Kareena Kapoor has the last laugh

Kareena Kapoor’s having the last laugh. Apparently the actress, who always trusts her instincts when it comes to signing films, is happy that she decided not to be a part of Harman Baweja’s sci-fi Love Story 2050. Before the film could release and bomb at the box office, there were reports that ‘Kareena’s loss was Priyanka Chopra’s gain’, but now after the verdict is out, everyone’s saying that it’s just turned out to be the opposite. According to sources, Kareena was very upset that she was made out to be the villain, because she walked out of the film. “She was not happy with the script and they were not ready to make any changes to it, so she opted out,” says a source. Bebo’s career is looking up and she has a plethora of films with the best banners of Bollywood, including Idiot with Aamir Khan.

‘Riteish is a sweetheart’

Her comictiming and darkslanted, shewolf act in De Taali has earned her much applause. But while basking in the compliments coming her way, she reveals that she’s tired of people confusing her with the Sen sisters — Raima and Riya and also with an actress from down South called Reema Sen. However, that’s not the only thing the actress is tired off. Rimi’s equally tired of doing comedies. “That’s all I get offered. Or some thrillers that are as thrilling as a visit to the dentist. I’m rather tired of doing comedies. Even my forthcoming films Sankat City, Horn OK Please and Shagird — in which I have a small role — show me in the comic vein,” said the actress. Incidentally, Rimi had a rather brief role in Dhoom 2 too. “Yes that was a special appearance for the sake of continuity. Please don’t ask me why I wasn’t billed as a guest appearance. I’ve no clue how big banners work,” she says rather frankly. Rimi also doesn’t mince words when she expresses her desire to work in prestigious production houses with bigger stars. “But in such set-ups I often get inconsequential roles. So I’d rather work with promising relatively small, but talented directors like E Niwas, Sriram Raghavan or Rajkumar Gupta, who’s directed Aamir.” Speaking of her highly unorthodox role as the gold-digging innocent-faced vixen in De Taali, Rimi says, “E Niwas was very clear about how he wanted me to play the character. He told me to stop being Rimi Sen and become Kartika. I took it from there. Although I played this seductive woman, I was determined not to make her conspicuously stylised. That would’ve looked like I was fishing to do some scene-stealing.” About that hyena-like giggle that she’s used, she adds, “That’s how I laugh in real life too. I thought it wouldn’t go with the character. But later I decided to incorporate it into my character to make her seem more human.” Surprisingly, even though she featured as Abhishek Bachchan’s suspicious wife in the hit Dhoom and its equally hit sequel, not much is known about Rimi. “That’s because I’m from Kolkata and I’ve no friends in the film industry.” With a self-assured aloofness that indicates a deep self-regard she informs, “I don’t attend parties or filmi events. I’d feel very foolish and fake if I had to go and socialise with the very same people with whom I share a cordial working relationship on the sets. I’m also not the kinds to go asking for a role unless I’m deeply impressed by a director’s work. It’s not that I’m not ambitious. But it won’t be at the cost of my self-respect.” Rimi also firmly believes that friendships aren’t possible in this industry. “Then why pretend? Equations change here according to opportunity and matlab. I’d rather do my work and come home.” However, she did bond rather well with her co-actor Riteish Deshmukh during De Taali. “He’s a sweetheart. I can say he’s one friend that I’ve made in the three years that I’ve been in the industry,” she smiles.

‘I’M JUDGING MISS UNIVERSE’

She might have never been a beauty pageant winner herself, but Eesha Koppikhar certainly has no regrets. The Bollywood actress has been selected to be one of the judges of the biggest beauty pageant — Miss Universe 2008! And apparently, she’s the first Bollywood actress to judge this particular contest. Confirming the news from Hong Kong, where she was to board a flight to Vietnam where the contest is taking place, she said, “It all happened at the last minute. I’m so excited! I have an international agent who mailed my details and they thought I was qualified to judge the show. I’m sure I’m going to have a rocking time!” Eesha recalls her first reaction when she received a call from the organisers, “I thought that someone is playing a prank on me. I mean, I am the most bindaas girl in Bollywood, mujhe bhala koi kyon Miss Universe ke liye bulaiga!” she laughed. But when her Hollywood agent Simone Shefield called her and confirmed that the organisers were supposed to call her for the event, she realised that it wasn’t a prank. “I personally feel that Indian beauty can never be matched with any beauty of the world,” she said. As for what she would be wearing for the gala ceremony, Eesha couldn’t have had it better. Internationally acclaimed designer Roberto Cavalli has expressed his desire to design a special gown for her. “I got an SMS from Roberto saying that he wants me to do a trial fitting once I reach there so I will have to rush for it. He is very professional, so I have to show him that hum bhi kisi se kum nahin,” said the actress who is excited about the fact that she will be “pampered by one of the best designers of the world.” Besides Roberto, Manish Malhotra will be designing her evening gown for the final event. “Manish has always bailed me out in these kind of situations,” she said. Eesha will be sharing the stage with the likes of Donald Trump Jr, Louis Licari (hair colourist of stars) and international cover girl Nadine Velazquez. Mel B (of Spice Girl) and Jerry Springer will host the show. So what is her expectation from Miss India? “The best should win. I would love it if my country wins, but then whoever is taking part in this contest are winners in their own rights, so no one’s a loser,” she added.

‘NOW I HAVE A DATE FOR YOU, ASH’

Abhishek Bachchan lives up to his promise made five years ago, accompanies wife on tour
Abhishek Bachchan may be going on his first world tour with wife Aishwarya Bachchan in a few days but the seeds of the plan had been planted in the year 2003 when the two were working together in the film Kuch Na Kaho. How’s that? Well, none other than the Junior Bachchan revealed it to us as he sat next to his beautiful wife Aishwarya after attending a press conference on Friday night. “She was going for a world tour herself and sent the organisers to ask me to come for the tour as well. But I couldn’t go as I didn’t have dates. Ever since then, she’s not let me forget it and I promised her that we will go for a world tour together,” revealed Abhishek as Ash cuts in with a giggle, “But we didn’t know at that time that we would end up going as husband and wife!” Abhi adds, “If you see the footage right after we performed for the first time at an event, she gave me a huge hug backstage and said, ‘This is what it feels like!’” The last few days have certainly been hectic for the Bachchan bahu as she came down with German measles and could not attend the rehearsals for the world tour which sees her sharing stage space with not just her husband, but father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Ritiesh Deshmukh as well. Her blue eyes have a tinge of red as she rues, “I lost 20 days because of that. I thought this time I have a lot of time to prepare but then this happened. I’ve started rehearsing now but hope to do my best,” even as Abhishek adds, “She was physically incapable of rehearsing but still, she was the most active member. She’s been on world tours thrice so her expertise came in handy. Even when someone used to ask dad about the tour, he would say ‘Ask Aishwarya’. She was the final authority.” Speaking of Senior Bachchan, we’re curious who Ash considers a better dancer — hubby dearest or her father-in-law but — she ducks the questions. “Our performance in Amsterdam was proof enough that the three of us truly enjoy dancing,” she puts it diplomatically but Abhishek is more vociferous about his choice. “I personally think dad is far superior. His stage presence is unparalled,” he adds. And when it comes to Amitabh, even Aishwarya couldn’t agree more. “He just has to stand on the stage and that’s enough. I’ve been a part of this fraternity for a long time and I’ve always wanted to go on a world tour with him. It’s a privilege to be going with pa,” she adds. So we guess, it’s two wishes that got fulfilled for the lady with the blue eyes.

Nakuul watches King and Dogg rap!

Nakuul Mehta, who made his debut with Haal-E-Dil, is the US for a vacation. The actor was invited to a local radio station in Chicago for an interview. When he got there, he came to know that his favourite rapper Snoop Dogg was shooting for his new video in the vicinity. So after finishing his interview, Nakuul walked to the studio where Snoop Dogg was recording and decided to try his luck. He wanted to watch the star in action, but was let down when the security told him that he had to know someone to get inside. Nakuul tried convincing the men but they wouldn’t budge, he was disappointed and was about to leave. That’s when a group of Indian dancers, who were part of the video, reached there. They instantly recognised him and helped him get inside the studio. But what Nakuul didn’t know was that he was in for a double whammy. Doing a jugalbandi with Snoop Dogg was with our very own Singh is Kinng star Akshay Kumar. The two were rocking together. Nakuul was stunned but enjoyed every moment of it. We wonder what was Nakuul’s Haal-e-Dil when he watched the two superstars in action. “Well, now I am not just Snoop Dogg’s fan but also Akshay Kumar’s,” said the actor who is having a blast.

When Manjari got scared...

Though her debut movie Rok Sake To Rok Lo failed at the box office Manjari Fadnis has managed to get people’s attention in Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na. And though the actress had a great time shooting for the film, she was constantly watching her back. That’s because co-star Imran Khan proved to be a major prankster. Manjari remembers the time when Imran scared her in a villa where they were shooting by making scary noises. “I am not the type that gets easily scared by the word ‘ghosts’. But this was one experience that really made me scream,” she smiles.

Ameesha’s sexy act

Ameesha is bubbling with excitement. Her ‘dumb as bimbo’ act in Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic has been liked by her fans as well as critics. Compliment the actress on that and she accepts it humbly. Her change of image, from sweet to hot, surely has a lot many takers and she confirms that she has been inundated with complimentary calls. “God has been kind and my new look has really been appreciated,” she says as she gears up for a hectic six months ahead. As for work, “It couldn’t have been better,” she smiles. Now the big question is how many takers are there for this new sexy avatar?

To teach India is a calling

Actress Tanishaa, who did a short but impressive role in Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar Raj, recently stepped out for BT and gave underprivileged children a few lessons about life and making the most of it right on the streets. “My heart goes out to children who do not enjoy privileges as basic as education. What greater good can one do than educate a child,” asked Tanishaa who thought The Times of India’s ‘Teach India’ campaign was “a superb social initiative that’s the need of the hour”. Said the bubbly actress, “With this, every child who will be interacted with is bound to grow into a refined, mature citizen. Isn’t this the entire motive of education?” It is, indeed. And the movement has picked up momentum in the week of its launch itself. Sixty of India’s most committed NGOs, schools and other social organisations have come up, and more are standing in line to pledge two hours a week that will make the difference to a less fortunate child’s life. While other Indians, like Bollywood hunk Salman Khan who has been quietly helping underprivileged kids in cash and kind for years, asked, “What better way to give back to society than through education?” Salman, in fact, stressed that he would want to make “kids understand the importance of education to better their own current state and therefore the country’s economic growth”. That’s the power of education. Everybody is willing to give back what they learned. Like Dhak-Dhak girl Madhuri Dixit who believes a noble campaign carried out on such a massive scale will help work against illiteracy and related issues like poverty. While actress Amrita Rao said, “Such kids will wake up to a larger world, if not anything else they will be rich at least in knowledge — a possession nobody can then take away from them.” Actresses Raveena Tandon and Nagma, who have always worked for the cause of the underprivileged Indian child, said illiteracy combated means half of India’s problems are solved. While debutant actor Harman Baweja, pledging to throw in his muscle, added that films, like the media, were a strong platform to “teach India” as “every kid loves film stars and listens to what they say”. Yesteryear screen queen and social activist Sharmila Tagore, who is noted for her work with NGOs like Unicef, Cry and Katha, agreed that education is one of the most important issues for empowering the underprivileged. But it was left to superstar Amitabh Bachchan to put a finger on exactly what Teach India will mean to the nation. “If mankind is capable of sharing his worth and privilege with those of his kind that do not have opportunity and are underprivileged, it is the greatest deed that can be done,” said the Big B. “An educated individual becomes the owner of several assets, not necessarily material, which contribute immensely in shaping the future of a country. I believe good education brings in an important element of discipline within all of us and I believe a disciplined nation is a progressive, developed nation. India needs to come out of this long-standing shadow of a developing nation, into one that is developed and education is the key ingredient.”

Kareena can teach others a few lessons

What’s the big deal of being in love? Nothing at all, especially if you are a part of so many love stories on screen. But it’s funny how when the younger generation — Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor — are so forthcoming about their dil ka rishtas, the older lot like Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra want to keep it all hush hush. It’s known that Priyanka has been seeing Harman Baweja for a while now, and recent stories of Lara’s involvement with Dino is not without smoke, and Katrina Kaif ’s lips are forever sealed. So what’s the big deal in admitting to a relationship, and showing it off, the way Bebo does? It’s not that she’s shouting from the roof tops, but the actress doesn’t bother to deny her relationship with Saif Ali Khan. Now, if only the pretty, lovely older damsels aren't too sure of their feelings…that, we would understand!

When everyone ditched Shahid...

Shahid Kapoor is a fitness freaks. The actor makes sure that he hits the gym even when he is shooting outdoors. So while shooting for Kismat Konnection, he made sure that he didn’t miss out on his workouts. Not satisfied with being the only one to work out, he started persuading others to join him. But his co-star Vidya Balan who prefers to walk rather than hit the gym, refused to join in. Shahid was very confident that the unit members would join in and work out. But the next day, when Shahid walked in the gym hoping to see all the unit members eagerly waiting for him. But Shahid was stunned! There was nobody except him in the gym. Well we are sure that many girls would love to get an opportunity to get some tips from the Prince Charming of Bollywood. So don’t be disheartened Shahid!

Akshay makes director cry

Akshay Kumar is smiling these days. Considering the amount of moolah he’s making, Akshay’s a happy man. But the man is making his directors cry. We just learnt that on the sets of Singh Is Kinng, Akki was the cause of Anees Bazmee’s tears. No, he didn’t act difficult or pricey, but Akshay simply did an emotional scene so well, that Anees couldn’t control himself. Producer Vipul Shah tells us, “It was a very emotional scene between Akshay and Kirron Kher. Everyone was so involved in it… and while there was silence, we could hear one person sniffing. It was Anees.” And the crew hasn’t stopped pulling his leg ever since and till date continue to tease Baby Bazmee!

‘I’M IN NO HURRY TO DO ANYTHING DIFFERENT’

Genelia, the girl-next-door, is all set to make waves in Bollywood
She’s barely stepped out of her teens, and stepped right into Bollywood! Sans godfather, sans the conventional pretty face, but with a freshness and charm that’s unmissable. Juhi brought it to the screen in the 80s and Kajol and Preity Zinta in the 90s. Genelia is the new kid, nay the lady, on the Bolly block. Having impressed with Mere Baap Pehle Aap, the actress who found success down South is now making waves in Bollywood. With a slew of hits in Tamil and Telugu films, just when Genelia looked set for a long innings down South, destiny transported her to the brink of Bombay dreams… Genelia looks ready for the limelight. Armed with the most expressive pair of dark eyes and a smile that could light up a room, Genelia has been the quintessential girl-next door, a tag that seems only too apt for her. But we wonder if she entertains any thoughts of branching out of that mould on the big stage of Bollywood. “Honestly, I am not in any hurry to do anything different just for the sake of it. Each character has different shades to it and as long as the role excites me in some way, I will take it up,” she replies. It sure helps to keep things short and simple, doesn’t it? Genelia has a lot to look forward to. She is presently shooting for It’s My Life opposite Harman Baweja. The film is being directed by Aneez Bazmi. Besides she’s also signed up for another multi-starrer titled Life Partner with Govinda and Fardeen in the lead. They say destiny is more a matter of choice than chance, but it seems to be a bit of both with Genelia. Born in England, she moved to Mumbai dreaming of becoming an actress and it has been one hell of a roller coaster ride so far. After a successful modelling stint, she made her debut in director Sankar’s flick Boys then she did Tujhe Meri Kasam, which didn’t create an impression at the BO. Moreover, with the South baiting her with many lucrative offers, the move down South was inevitable. “I think I am God’s favourite child. In an industry where women would be lucky to get a couple of films, I have been incredibly lucky to get the opportunity to work in some great ones. There have been many ups and downs, but it’s been one awesome experience so far,” says an excited Genelia. While down South, most find her freshness akin to Preity Zinta, Aamir Khan went on record saying she reminded him of Juhi Chawla! With so much happening, it’s most important to have your wits about you and Genelia certainly looks up for it. “It just feels great to have people scream your name in a crowd. I am an actor while I’m on the sets. But, I have a life beside films and it keeps me grounded,” she concludes.
